Bennett Transports Case IH’s New Self-Driving Tractor on Debut Tour

This year, Bennett got to be a part of an exciting product rollout that may change farming forever. Bennett agent Shane Ferrozzo coordinated the tour of a prototype for a self-driving tractor developed by Case IH together with CNH Industrial’s Innovation Group. The tractor was transported between farm shows throughout the states, starting with the 2016 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, the premier farm equipment show, where the tractor was debuted and seen for the first time.

A Wall Street Journal article reported that the self-driving tractor stole the show, attracting both awe and skepticism of problems that could happen with self-driving tractors. From his base in Eagan, MN, Ferrozzo coordinated individual pick-ups and deliveries of the tractor between shows from August through October, with no incidents.

The tractor was first picked up at Perfection Corp., the firm contracted to manufacture it, in Sturtevant, WI. It went to Boone and then to Husker Harvest Days in Wood River, NE, then to the Farm Science Review show in London, OH. From there, the tractor was delivered to Case IH’s plant in Burr Ridge, IL, and then picked up and delivered to one last show, the National FFA (Future Farmers of America) Convention in Indianapolis, IN, and then picked up and delivered to Case IH’s headquarters in Burroughs, IL.

“One of the reasons we were selected to haul the tractor is because they trust us,” says Ferrozzo, who manages many of Case IH’s specialized hauls and show moves on behalf of Bennett. “Our Case IH colleagues have told us that the reason they trust us is because of our good communication, dependability and reliability.”
