Bennett Motor Express Driver John W. Jackson Hits 50 Years Service Mark

Owner/operator John W. Jackson, Sr. recently marked 50 years of service with specialized freight carrier Bennett Motor Express (BME). In 1960, the Forsyth, Georgia resident joined George Bennett Truckline, a small five-truck regional carrier based in South Georgia.
“I joined Bennett because I wanted to see the world,” said Jackson. “I never thought I’d see Bennett grow like it has. I’m just blessed that the Lord has kept me going, and I’ll keep going as long as I’m able to go.”
In 1974, the late J.D. Garrison and Marcia G. Taylor acquired the company and later changed its name to Bennett Motor Express. Today, the privately held family company operates a fleet of 615 tractors and 1178 trailers, through five divisions.
Since joining BME, Jackson has received numerous industry and company awards for his dedication, loyalty and service, including induction into the President’s Million Mile Club and the J.D. Garrison Commemorative Award, Bennett International Group’s highest corporate honor.
“I have so many wonderful memories of our time with J.W. and his family,” said Marcia Taylor, Bennett Motor Express CEO and owner. “There has never been a time when we’ve asked him to do something, and he didn’t come through. We are very blessed to have J.W. associated with Bennett Motor Express for the last 50 years.”
In 1997, Jackson’s son, John Jackson, Jr. joined BME as an owner/operator as well, and currently runs two tractors. “I’m very proud of my dad, and I can only hope to get to 50 plus years. But you never know, this is the longest time I’ve been with one company,” he said.
