Jetta Kay Dossett Combines Love of Driving and Traveling

March 3, 2016

Jetta Kay Dossett always wanted to travel, and she was able to do so when she started her driving career in Drive Away in 1970.

“I’ve always wanted to travel and thought it was a good opportunity to keep up with my family that’s spread all over,” she said. “I just enjoy traveling. I just love driving. I love seeing the country and meeting people.”

During her career as a driver, Dossett has worked for several different drive away companies and started driving for Bennett’s DriveAway division about three years ago.

She said that living in Forest City, Iowa, where Bennett’s motorhome division is based, has made driving for Bennett convenient making it possible for her to take a three or four-day run and then spend a few days at home before taking off again.

“I can go out and come back and I’m home,” she said. “It works out really good for me.”

She said she usually drives with a car in tow.

“One thing I’ve always thought was an advantage was to have a tow car,” she said. “Right now we’re busy and you can fly and take trains and stuff. But sometimes when it slows down you don’t have much choice about trips, and to take the shorter trips, you really need a tow car.”

Dossett said she likes the bonuses for mileage and safe driving miles that Bennett offers.

“I strive to do that…not have any accidents and that sort of thing,” she said. “I’ve been very lucky so far.”

And she said she likes that Bennett pays extra for things such as crossing into Canada and into the different provinces, she added that a lot of the drive away companies don’t pay anything extra for that.

Dossett said she’s not married, has never been married and that she has no children, and said she enjoys her freedom.

“It’s just me, so just come and go as I please,” she said.
