Oil prices fell as much as 2 percent on Wednesday after government data showed a rise in U.S. crude stockpiles.
The easing of geopolitical tensions that boosted crude futures earlier this week also removed some support in the market.
Surging U.S. production, robust American crude exports and a stronger dollar also put pressure on the commodity.
