The Taylor Family Foundation was recognized at the Clayton State Foundation Scholarship Recognition Luncheon on April 3 at the Harry S. Downs Center on the Clayton State University Campus. The school recognized the Taylor Family Foundation for the annual scholarships awarded to four seniors who are enrolled in the school’s Supply Chain Management program with its mission to prepare students for careers areas such as operations, transportation, warehousing, purchasing, logistics, and supply chain management.
The seniors awarded the Taylor Family Foundation scholarships are Hue Kanh Dang Nguyen, Irvine Marie Georges, Kimone Elecia McLeod, and Justin R. Agonafir.
The requirements for the scholarships, which are based on financial need, state that the student be a full-time student at Clayton State University majoring in Supply Chain Management with an overall grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Each of the four students was awarded an initial $1,250 for the 2013 fall semester with the second and final installment of $1,250 distributed to those same students given they maintained the minimum 2.5 GPA or higher and are still registered as a full-time student spring semester. School officials said the students did quite well with all four earning a 3.0 or higher and one receiving a 4.0 for the fall semester. The scholarships are awarded to offset the student’s cost of tuition and fees.
Scholarship recipients expressed gratitude and acknowledged that the funds will ease the financial burden that paying for school can sometimes bring about.
“The Taylor Family Foundation and Bennett International Group are proud to partner with Clayton State University and the College of Business by making these funds available to students so that they may continue their educational dreams,” Lynette Alt Mathis, vice president of Bennett International Group and administrator for the Taylor Family Foundation, said. “The annual scholarships continue a tradition established by Mrs. Taylor and Bennett International Group to be actively involved in the communities in which we operate.”
