Campers Experience Awakening and Renewal at Camp Bennett

On July 13, approximately 65 children of Bennett employees, boarded a bus at the Bennett home office in McDonough, Georgia – their destination – Old Town, Florida where Camp Anderson was transformed into Camp Bennett for the week.
Also from Bennett were seven employees, who left the office behind and made the trek to Florida to participate as counselors to lead the campers in their daily activities. Marcia Taylor, president and chief executive office at Bennett, also joined the campers for a day of recreation and worship.
For many unsuspecting campers, it was their first experience at the camp. For others, well…they knew exactly what they were in store for, and according to their “end of camp” testimony cards, they didn’t leave disappointed.
During the week campers participated in a number of water sports and activities such as boat rides on the “Lady Taylor,” and plenty of recreation and games. But perhaps the most significant and impactful part of the week was each day when the campers woke up and attended chapel and ended each day back at the worship center listening to the inspiring messages as Pastor Kevin taught the campers the Word of God. And based on the camp’s history, it’s probably no surprise that many lives were changed during that week of Camp Bennett.

By the end of the week, there was a total of 62 young people who gave their lives to Christ, 22 rededicated their lives to Christ, and 45 were baptized in the river on Friday morning!
“Wow, what a blessing,” said Cindy Bloodworth, executive assistant. “God is still working in the lives of young people and adults!”
For many campers and counselors alike, it was a week of awakening. For others, it was a week of renewal. And as the campers made their way home to Georgia, each one continues to wear the armor of God, prepared with His Word, and ready to share the love of Christ and their testimony so they may bring others to Him.
Camp Bennett is an outreach made possible by the Taylor Family Foundation. With the support of the foundation, children of Bennett employees, drivers and agents have the opportunity to attend and experience this unique week of camp. (MCDONOUGH, GA) – The Taylor Family Foundation sponsored the largest wheelchair tournament in the country last month. The tournament was held April 26 – April 29 at Richard Craig Park in McDonough, GA.
After 32 years Len Johnson, president of Bennett Motor Express, is hanging up his cowboy hat and retiring. On Dec. 15 a reception was held in his honor at the Hilton Garden Inn in McDonough.
Wine Tasting, networking, tailgating, Dale Carnegie Sales Training, and the annual awards banquet were among the highlights at Bennett International Group’s 36th Annual Symposium held Feb. 4 through 7 at the Chậteau Élan Winery and Resort. More than 400 Bennett agents and employees participated in the three-day event.
The American Trucking Association designates one week per year as National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. Bennett International Group, LLC celebrated along with the rest of the country by holding Drivers Appreciation Week festivities throughout the third week of September. Staff and leaders at the company spent the days celebrating those who sacrifice so much to keep freight moving on the open road.
The week of September 14 -20 is National Truck Driver Appreciation Week and drivers at Bennett will celebrate all week long at various Bennett locations.
Bennett International Group was invited to attend Locust Grove Elementary career day May 7th, 2015. Hundreds of kindergarten, first graders and second graders toured one of our step-deck trailers and learned some valuable information about trucking from our Owner Operator, Carl Nelson and Dispatcher, J.R. Aug. 31, 2014 was a hot, steamy day in South Georgia and the loud hum of the motors reached a deafening crescendo as the cars raced around the 1.54 mile quad oval track. Edgar Strader and his wife, Linda, sat in the stands mesmerized as the drivers whizzed by. Just seeing the cars and knowing that inside at the wheel sat some of the best and well-known drivers of our time only added to their excitement. The Straders watched as Tony Stewart, Jimmie Johnson, Danica Patrick, and Linda’s favorite driver, Kevin Harvick, took to the track, and they felt the exhilarating rush from the speed of the cars and the noise of the crowd around them.
As a professional, rarely do you see yourself walking into your office in a suit and tie only to walk out a few hours later covered in sweat, dirt, and grime. But that’s exactly what former NFL running back and now motivational speaker, Derrick Moore, implied during a recent training session for agents of Bennett International Group.
There are some instances when normal might be good. For example, on a recent trip to the doctor and to hear your blood pressure and blood work is normal – that’s a good thing. But when it comes to business, David Salyers, vice president of local, regional, and national marketing for Chick-fil-A and coauthor of the book, “Remarkable,” said that normal simply isn’t good enough.
On October 13th 2013, Bennett lost a dear friend and former employee of 23 years, Teddy Ingram. Teddy worked as Bennett’s valued and dedicated shop manager. Prior to his untimely departure, Teddy was awarded the Unsung Hero Award by Henry County Fire Department for initiating the chain of survival that would later prove to be lifesaving for an Eastman man who collapsed with heart failure in Bennett’s parking lot.
Former Bennett Drive Away driver, Dan Rodgers drove for Bennett up until a year ago, but while he enjoyed delivering trucks and RVs, he harbored a strong passion for writing. In between his 11 hour breaks of service, Dan would write feverishly until he was called to go back on the road. When his mother was diagnosed with cancer, he stopped driving for Bennett in order to care for her.
