Atlanta, GA (September 25, 2024) — This year marks the 10th anniversary of Bennett’s Women in the Driver’s Seat (WIDS) Program which was created in 2014 to guide, celebrate and honor women at Bennett.

Bennett owner and CEO, Marcia G. Taylor, saw a need to have a program in place that meets the daily needs of women in such a male-dominated industry. Each woman driver at Bennett automatically becomes a member of the program and receives support, guidance and mentorship from other seasoned women at Bennett including fleet owners, owner/operators and independent contractors.

The WIDS Program is in place to recognize our woman drivers while ensuring they receive the support and guidance they need, both on and off the road. With an all-woman driver advisory board and all-woman support at the Home Office, we are better equipped to lead women drivers in such a male-dominated industry.

In addition, the program also works closely with many partners in the industry, such as TA Petro, to improve life on the road. This year, many health and safety topics have been discussed including lighting on lots, parking, security, emergency response and traffic management. Other aspects such as wait times, hospitality, oversized load accessibility and important legislative updates have been brought to the attention of those that can create change to improve the transportation industry across the board.

“Having been in trucking for over 50 years, I understand the importance of having the support and guidance from other women in such a male-dominated industry. The WIDS Program means so much to me and I am proud that we have it in place here at Bennett. Women supporting other women yields amazing success and my goal is to always foster that culture.”

Marcia G. Taylor, Owner and CEO of the Bennett Family of Companies and the Taylor Family Foundation

Heading into the 11th year of the Women in the Driver’s Seat Program, the WIDS members have created a Strategic Plan that is extremely comprehensive and will be built upon in the coming years. Many more exciting things lie ahead for Bennett’s WIDS Program!
