2019 Bennett Woman Driver of Excellence Award Recipient
Darla McDowell has been driving for five years. She started her career as a bus driver but wanted to do something different. When she started driving for Bennett, she was at the lowest, hardest time of her life. She says Bennett was the best thing that ever happened to her and this job has given her confidence, strong will, independence and a determination of steel. She had to do a lot of falling forward and picking herself up but now she feels that she is at the top of her profession.
Darla is a very safe driver and believes that Safety is Priority One. She protects Bennett vehicles like they were her children and safety is everything to Darla. Not only does Darla work hard, she also encourages other drivers quite often both on and off the road.
While driving for Bennett, she was challenged with learning how to drive a manual shift. It took her 14 months before she felt good enough but says her determination kept her going forward without quitting.
Darla’s passion is driving trucks and she is so blessed that she has a family to go home to and a job that she loves. Darla has proven to have all the qualities of being the DriveAway Woman Driver of Excellence.
