2019 Bennett Woman Driver of Excellence Award Recipient

Terry Davis has been driving for 42 years and as a team driver with her husband, Clarence, for 24 years. She drove by herself for 10 years before meeting her husband. Terry prefers to drive during the day while her husband drives during the evening. On her shift, she takes care of everything. Terry will get the truck loaded, unloaded, axle out the weight, make repairs on the truck or trailer all while taking care of the paperwork and giving excellent customer service to Bennett customers.

As a women driver, one of the main challenges that she had to face was being a smaller woman at only 5’1 and 105 pounds. There were times when she felt that men didn’t think she should be out on the road. She overcame this problem of not being taken seriously by outrunning and out working them.

Theresa (Terry) Davis

Bennett Heavy & Specialized

Terry is very safety conscious receiving many safety awards over the years. She is quick to offer help to others whether it is dropping a trailer to make it easier for someone to back around into a space, providing directions or giving a pep talk to someone. As an experienced driver, Terry loves to encourage other female drivers and help any new or discouraged drivers. She takes pride in doing a good job and doing it right the first time. Over her career, Terry has received numerous awards including the YRCW Chairman award and Clean Truck awards. In addition, she drove in the world’s largest truck convoy for Special Olympics and was honored to have a Special Olympic athlete ride shotgun with her. We are truly proud to have Terry be a part of the Bennett family.
