2019 Bennett Woman Driver of Excellence Award Recipient
Violet Helferich has been with Ace Doran/Bennett since the inception of the Wind Division in early 2016. In her family, driving a truck is a tradition. Her father owned a farm and raised her to be independent. Violet started driving a feed truck at the age of 14 and by the age of 16, she was hauling cattle. She always knew that she wanted to drive and got her Commercial Driver’s License at the age of 18.
Violet is very safety conscious. She received her first safety award after her first year of driving. She is called “Turtle” by her fellow drivers. She is proud of the nickname because fast doesn’t always win the race, slow and steady keeps you safe.
Violet is the first one to help her fellow drivers. Recently, she started serving as a Driver Trainer in the Wind Division. As a Driver Trainer, Violet helps new drivers with their first few loads to share “best practices” and tips for safe loading, securement, transport, and unloading.
Violet is very engaged in her role as the Wind Energy Division representative on the Bennett Motor Express/Ace Doran Driver Advisory Board and has proven to be a very effective recruiter. Over the last few years, she has been responsible for bringing on several new drivers to Ace Doran.
Violet was recognized in 2017 by the Specialized Carrier and Rigging Association as their Driver of the Year. This is a very prestigious award for the trucking and transportation industry. We are so fortunate to have someone as driven as Violet be part of our Bennett family.
